SITE ASSESSMENT/INVESTIGATION

EEI performs Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards. The ESA identifies all relevant contamination migration pathways and determines the distribution, concentration, and fate of contaminants for the purpose of evaluating risk, and regulatory compliance.

The focus of Phase I study is geologic and hydrologic characterization of the system of relevant contaminant pathways, and other potential contaminant pathways, such as air, surface water, and submerged sediments, as appropriate.

The Phase II study focuses on delineating the spatial distribution, concentration, and understanding of the fate of contaminants based on knowledge of the relevant contaminant pathways identified in Phase I with additional geologic and hydrologic characterization carried out as needed.

EEI ensures that only the information required to meet clearly defined objectives is collected and that the characterization ceases as soon as the objectives are met.
