CULTURAL RESOURCES

The National Historic Preservation Act, first passed in 1966, is the principal legislation that establishes the protection of significant historical properties as a national policy.  Recent amendments to the act have pulled together aspects of earlier and later legislation, such as the Antiquities Act of 1906, the Historic Sites Act of 1935, the Reservoir Salvage Act of 1960 and Executive Order 11593 and incorporated them into the National Historic Preservation Act.

EEI provides technical assistance to DoD to foster conditions under which our modern society and our prehistoric and historic resources can exist in productive harmony and fulfill the social, economic, and other requirements of present and future generations.

EEI administers federally owned, administered, or controlled prehistoric and historic resources in a spirit of stewardship for the inspiration and benefit of present and future generations.
